“This is a dream come true…a significant occasion which gathers us all together to enjoy each other’s company” Dr. Evangeline P. Ladines, Schools Division Superintendent reiterated during the concluding ceremony of the Division World Teachers’ Day Celebration on September 27, 2017 at Cuneta Astrodome, Pasay City.
The realization of Dr. Ladines’ dream is through the full support of the Local Government Officials headed by Mayor Antonino G. Calixto, Congresswoman Imelda Calixto Rubiano, the City council who were present during the closing and awarding ceremonies and the maximum participation of teachers who wear smiles on their faces.
In the statement delivered by Mayor Calixto, he expressed that Education is a life changing power. Teachers should continue on unleashing their potentials as productive citizens of this world. He specified that from the heart of a teacher we can have a new breed of heroes. These striking statements have shown appreciation and recognition to dedicated teachers who are selflessly exerting efforts to educate the learners.
Apart from the meaningful speeches is the apparent success of the celebration. The numerous raffle draws which highlighted the celebration and the surprise number of the Education Program Supervisor, Public School District Supervisors and School heads enliven the program.
The success of the event is also attributed to the technical working group headed by Dr. Melody P. Cruz, OIC – Assistant Schools Division Superintendent.
The month long celebration held on September 5-October 5,2017 in observance to the National Teachers’ Month started with the advocacy campaign followed by series of contests and the SDO Tribute to Retirees as the culminating the activity.
Meanwhile, the Division-Wide Synchronized Contests list of winners are as follows: First, ”My Teacher’s Story” first place winner is Sjienlee Marie L. Delia of Pasay City National Science High School, second place winner is John Leonard L. Walag of Pres. Corazon C. Aquino High School and third place winner is Mikkhyla Ayanna M. Quinao of Kalayaan Elementary School. Second is the ”Teachers’ Got Talent” Singing Contest and the winners are: first placer is Carlo S. Mañalac of Pasay City North High School Tramo, second placer is Junbeth B. Santos of Pres. Corazon Aquino High School, third placer is Mharie Fe S. Delos Reyes of Pasay City East High School. The third contest is ”Teachers’ Got Talent” (Dance Contest) and the proclaimed winners are: first place is Timoteo Paez Elementary School, second place is Don Carlos Elementary School, and third place is Marcela Marcelo Elementary School. This is followed by “Sportsfest” (Volleyball Girls) wherein the first place winner is cluster 3, second placer is cluster 2 and the third place winner is cluster 3. Lastly, is the ”Sportsfest (Basketball Boys)” with cluster 10 as first placer, second placer is cluster 8 and third placer is cluster 9.
This years’ celebration theme, Gurong Pilipino: Kaakbay sa Progreso, aims to recognize the important role of teachers as partners in sustainable and inclusive development. Specifically, it gives emphasis that teachers are not only essential conduits of quality education but also are fiber of the society because without them, there would be no other profession.
